Ah... Yes. Well, perhaps I cant win everything after all.... However, I can also liken it to a victorious death...
I still get what I want;-)

lol... all I can say is that I legitimately hope you just understand what I was saying, because it doesn't get much more direct than that. I'm doing my "clever girl" dance.

WarHorse, in case there is some confusion, RavenCall has contacted you via e-mail. Check the "cowboy" e-mail that you used to register at this forum.

This is not a contact site -- and everyone remains anonymous -- but you both were obviously bonding, so I stretched the rules in your case.

RavenCall,

So you can participate with me, would you be so kind as to state who coined this phrase? You're well learn-ed in these matters. ;-)

"Do not believe in what you have heard; do not believe in traditions because
they have been
handed down for many generations; do not believe anything because it is
rumored and spoken
of by many; do not believe merely because the written statement of some old
sage is produced;
do not believe in conjectures; do not believe merely in the authority of
your teachers and elders.
After observation and analysis, when it agrees with reason and is conducive
to the good and
benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Pretty slick words.

Buddha also said "There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting." I've always liked that one.. but yours is very insightful as well

I agree with that one, although I can appreciate poetry I am sadly more reliant on my actions than my words

I'm in the same boat. I feel I can do a decent job painting a picture with prose but I have little skill at finding the right flow for poetry.

Rise and Rise

Death comes
in swinging blows
merciless battle fields
made over-green with
the blood of men,
the slaying of dreams.
The beaten and scarred
rise and rise
against ever increasing tides
rise and rise-
the Raven Flag flies
rise and rise
you may die
but victory calls
clear
you will die
but not before
you
rise and rise.
Victory is tasted
on the tips of bruised fingers,
in the iron of blood in your mouth
and the never failing promise to
rise and rise.

Thanks again for this, RavenCall. It really is special to me.

RavenCall,

I just wanted to say thank you one last time for this. It was truly motivational for me, and helped to inspire my closing speech for the descendants ceremony last night. You are a wonderful friend, and one of the greatest wealths of knowledge and wisdom this forum has ever seen. You bring balance; "sword & shield". I am proud to call you my sister.

You are a living testimony of "Honor for Honors sake".

RavenCall,

I once said that I lacked the eloquence to repay you for you gift to me of the poem"Rise and Rise". I do lack the eloquence, but I will repay you just the same.

SWORD and SHIELD

I am shield.
You are sword.
We both serve our purpose together
But separately.
I take the blows and give cover
You deliver the message and prompt reaction.
Together we dance.
Together, we are complete:
We are balance.

I am sure you know what I am trying to say. But I want so badly to say more with it, yet I don't know how. Perhaps it is the way it should be. Being meant for you, I won't take the time to interpret it for others.(is a poet supposed to do that?) but if someone should ask, I feel strongly enough about this to explain more, I suppose.

I am honored beyond words. You underestimate your own elegance. I am truly honored. It is a fine gift! Thank you... your words will be deeply treasured. You are beautiful, brother.

And what a beautiful journey this has been, has it not? And still more adventures to come....
