Mugwort fills the air,
Diluting the dank dusky dome.
My chest is bare
I’m like the bear in his lair.

Breathing in and breathing out,
My thoughts drift to fire.
My heart is stout,
As I heat my knife in the fire.

Steel singe-ing and cutting my skin
Blood bubbling up
I do it again and again
Heimdallr, drink up!

I lay back under a shroud of white
The White Kingdom
The Whitest of the gods
I gotta let it all sink in.

Is this what it’s like to be dead?
Crickets and a blank screen?
I feel my shroud turning red.
It remains unseen.

Ygdrassil!
Castle walls!
Dutiful!
I guard the door to a Hall!

Herbs, blood, and silver
Wrapped in paper
A gift for the Elder Kin
Some of it turns to vapor.

Hello, my friends.
Please accept my gifts.
I’ve come to visit you again.
It’s my shift.

Fire turns ice into vapor
Rain falls down
I see a violent caper
Boots and fire on the ground.

A rooster crows and Gjallarhorn blows!
I swiftly swing some steel,
I feel the death throes,
But I still kill.
My body is dead
But my soul still lives
I watch Midgard turn red
Ash run through a sieve.

Let’s do it again!

It's he who seeks to taste the sacred fruit,
The seeker who searches beneath the veil,
The one who speaks in action when his voice is mute
With blood hands he crafts his tale.

Who am I?

The eyes can be tricked using only heat.
Who says this world isn't a mirage?
In the moment where were your feet?
But your other senses present a montage

Where am I?

Man innocent of conviction; did you find the hall?
Did you eat of the pork and drink the mead?
Have you soujourned to heed the call?
Have you gone from turning word, into deed?

What am I?

Methinks you know the answer to all three!

Another poem deticated to Sweidodinsson. A gift for a gift.

Thank you Bjorn, my friend. I always enjoy your pictures painted with words.

edit:
"I was young once,
I walked alone,
and I became lost on my way.
I felt like I was rich
When I met another traveler-
People's joy is in other people."

- The high one

I know you appreciate it so I do it haha. It's as much an excuse for me to write as it is to try and do you honor. I hope more folks attempt to write more in the poetry section.

I love that quote.
