I'm interested in knowing more deeply about the significance of blood. What little i know, is that it is used with Runes to replicate the ritual done with Ask and Embla, and that Tyr likes it as a sacrifice, but beyond that i dont know anything.
Thanks for your time.

In this age, we only shed blood in the initiation ritual, when three small cuts are made.

But what meaning does blood have? I would assume that it can mean the strength of your ancestors, because their blood flows in you too. But what besides that?

Our soul is in our blood. When you offer your blood as part of a ceremony you are pledging part of your soul.

Incidentally one reason that many criminals were strangled or hung was so that their souls (or the essence of their being if "soul" is too Christian of a term for your liking) would be trapped within the corpse.

My son and I were discussing Odins spear. He wants to tatoo it on his forearm. I related my interpretation of what i understand and he gave me additional insight. His thought was the secrets of the world lay on the tip of a spear as in" the DNA of any remnant of blood of those it pierced". Nowadays we are able to see so much in DNA and it does give us a glimpse of the past. It is our own personal history stamp.
My grandfather cut his arm the night he passed to Valhalla as it was the sign to the valkaries, a warrior of Odin had died. My mother apparently used her blood to stain her Rune set. Blood oaths were bonds. And as symbols of sacrifice, birth and death.
