I feel closer to different Gods through different times, but overall, I feel very close to Balder. I have always tried to be a moral, a honourable, a virtuous person. I see purity as the ultimate virtue, personified best through Balder, the most beloved Aes. It's good to be good for the sake of being good, that is the teaching of Balder.

I have long been strongly drawn to Tyr because of the story about his sacrificing his hand to bind Fenrir. But, at bottom, it is Wotan who holds me. One problem, as I see it, with the Adamic creeds is that they start out trying to control men and wind up dictating to God as well. Look at Islam which pretty well hogties Allah: He can't send any more prophets, Shariah law is beyond amendment, etc. Or Christianity: God is love and love is doing what our neighbor wants right now. No discussion.

Wotan is enigmatic. Alfodr, Constellation Mover, Victory Giver, yes. But also Wanderer, Stormer, Forth-Rider, Self-slain God, and a good many more

Sometimes I wonder about the names we don't know.

That is one of the things that pulled me into this path. It leaves some questions open. Like what WAS the word whispered into dead Baldr's ear? What is it the Valkyries say to the slain? And so on...
