I was browsing through some of the topics here, hoping to find a little insight on the dark elves. I've been trying to find information through various writings, but with little luck.
There is a being who has visited my dreams off and on over the years. I call him a dark elf for lack of a better word. But unlike most of the descriptions I've read, he is not dark skinned, but looks more like a Tolkien elf— tall, dark haired, green eyes, pointed ears. There is an aura about this being. Dark, sometimes cloaked in shadow. Also fire when angry.
Whatever this being is, I am not afraid of him and do not feel he is a threat to me. I think I knew this being in another incarnation.

On a side note, I'm working on a book, which features elves and dark elves. I'm basing my dark elves off of what feels right. And on that note, I suspect dark elves to practice a sort of blood magic or to be reminiscent of vampires.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject? I saw another post that brushed on this very subject but it did not really go any further, so I decided to start my own thread.

My post off another thread;

There is a whole chapter on it in Kveldulf Gundarsson's Book 'Elves, Wrights and Trolls' it is also touched upon in 'Of Ghosts and Godpoles,, By Thorbeorht Linleah. There is also a different look at them in 'The Tradition of Household Spirits: Ancestral Lore and Practices' by Claude Lecouteux.

The best book on the Elves from a scientists point of view;

Jaque Vallee~ Passport to Magonia
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/archi ... agonia.pdf

the light elves live in the sky (Alfheimr/Magonia)
And the Dark elves live in the crust of the earth and only come out at night.
They delight in tricking humans.

Thanks, I'll check the link.
I've read a bit about svartalfheim, but haven't found any clear differentiation between the dwarves and/or dark elves.
